The study discussed
The International Wound Journal analysis used propensity-score matching to compare 200 older adults whose pressure ulcers were treated with nitric oxide-delivering foam with 200 historical standard-of-care controls. The paper reported modeled 12-week healing estimates of 63% and 34%, respectively. Stage-specific analyses also favored the foam for most comparisons.
How to interpret the evidence
This was a retrospective real-world analysis, not a randomized controlled trial. Propensity matching was used to improve comparability between groups, but unmeasured differences may remain. The reported association therefore does not establish causation or the safety and effectiveness of NOX1416.
